Nas Academy visits and reconcile with Apo Whang-Od, Butbut Tribe

Nas Academy finally reconciled with Apo Whang-Od and the Butbut Tribe. On Facebook, Nas Academy shared a video showing their visit to Buscalan, Kalinga, to join with the tribe in a reconciliation process.

"Last Friday, we visited Apo Whang-Od and the Butbut Tribe to participate in a customary reconciliation process. It was an amazing experience to be hosted by the tribal elders and community members, and finally resolve our differences," the post read.

"We’d love to share more of what happened – so take a moment to watch the video! In summary, Nas Academy entered into a discussion with the tribal elders which led to the tribe accepting our efforts of reconciliation, and then we ended off with a shared meal," it added.

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) organised the event.

According to NICP Chair Allen Capuyan, Nas reached out to NCIP and had a series of meetings online which come up in the decision for them to visit the community in Buscalan.

Nas Academy respect the wishes of the Butbut tribe, and "the previous contract for Whang-Od Academy has been deemed null and void."

"It's really nice that you guys are here. I can't say anything, but thanks for coming here shows that you are sincere in offering this reconciliation," Apo Whang-Od said.

Nas Academy came under fire last August when Whang-Od's grandniece Gracia Palicas called out the Academy and tagged the offered a scam.
