FIL-AM NATHAN VALENCIA DIES AFTER CHARITY BOXING MATCH, FAMILY DEMAND FOR ANSWERS

 Nathan Valencia, 20, a Filipino-American college student from Las Vegas died from injuries after an amateur boxing match.





The student of the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), said to have participated in a charity boxing event organized by local fraternities of UNLV.




According to friends who attended the match, Valencia collapsed and could barely stand on his own as the winners were announced.



According to his family, Valencia suffered from brain injuries which he could not recover from.




Valencia's family and UNLV school officials want answers to find out if there were enough safety precaution in place.



"We will leave no stone unturned to determine how a 20-year-old ended up in a school-sanctioned amateur fight that cost him his life," the statement reads.



"I was like this, this thing, it's like an underground fight club," Joe Castro, a longtime friend of Valencia.






Valencia was an active members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at UNLV.




The Kappa Sigma Fight Night is an event that has been held annually and was well known to both UNLV and the national Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
