FUNDS FOR TYPHOON ODETTE HIT PROVINCES ARE COMING BY CHRISTMAS EVE

President Rodrigo Duterte promised to help victims of typhoon Odette in affected provinces as funds intended for assistance will be "downloaded on or before Friday," he said in a pre-recorded public address.

"Hindi ito 'yung ano, hindi ito 'yung contigent fund, hindi ito calamity fund. This is the money nakuha ko from my office," he said in a pre-recorded public address.

"I said, on or before Friday, I will be downloading the money to you. Para sa tao ito. Lahat, up tp the last centavo para sa tao ito.

The president recently visited storm slammed areas to see the people personally and to give relief aid in Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, and Negros Occidental.

Around P6 billion of the P10 billion Typhoon Odette response funds would come from the proposed P5.024 trillion 2022 national budget, according to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM)  as quoted in the Inquirer report.

"For the P10 billion which the President mentioned, the P2 billion is already available under NDRRMF, which is the long name of calamity fund," acting DBM Secretary Tina Rose Canda said in press briefing.

"The next P2-billion is available under the President's contingent fund, and the remainder of the P6 billion will be available in a couple of days once the GAA or the General Appropriation Act is signed for 2022," he added.

Odette leaves billions of pesos destruction which flattened tourist spots, residential areas, businesses, and public infrastructures.
