MAGUAD SIBLING'S MOTHER SLAM ANNE CURTIS OVER CONTROVERCIAL VIEWS ON LOWERING CRIMINAL AGE

Lawmakers are in the hot discussion whether lowering the age of criminal responsibility is at the right time as crimes involving minors are exponentially rising in the country.

Actress Ann Curtis, a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador used her extra free time to share controversial opinion about lowering the minimum age of criminal responsibility (MARC) from 15 to 12 years old.

"As a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador it is my duty to raise awareness and lend my voice to support the call of the Council for the Welfare of Children, civil society organizations, professional associations, child protection experts, well-meaning citizens, parents and the youth. I stand with them for NOT lowering the criminal age of responsibility," said Anne.

"But instead supporting the full implementation of the current law of the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.," she added, explaining that "children in conflict with the law are already victims of circumstances, mostly because of poverty and exploitation by adults."

She believed, "instead of being penalized, they (minor) should have access to proper rehabilitation - where they can be properly cared for to understand what they may have done wrong, learn to change their ways and be given a second chance at life."

However, Anne came under fire over her stand, after Lovella Orbe, the mother of the slain Maguad siblings talked about the horror incident that happened to her two children.

"You don't live in a real world Ms. Anne.  What you know is Children are as adorable and innocent  as your daughter same as ours. You know nothing of the many instances/incidents  how other children could be  of the worst," Lovella began.

"You are rich and exposed to a movie like character.  Life isn't a movie ..there's no take two or three when you're not able to do it right. You'll understand what I am trying to figure out when you're adorable n innocent daughter will be one of the victims of these instinctive criminals whom you called as children in conflict with the law. I'll deal with you when I'll be winning myself/sanity  again," she continued.

"Look at my promising daughter n son...They're not children of a popular or rich actress/people  like you  or influential politician  but children of common members of the society  who are trying to contribute something better n making a difference  in the society , taxpayers who have been genuinely touching more lives more than you," she added.
