DHL CARGO PLANE BREAKS IN TWO DURING EMERGENCY LANDING IN COSTA RICA

According to international news outlets Bloomberg and Huffpost, it has been reported that a cargo plane operated by global logistics firm DHL had skidded off the runway as it was landing at San Jose’s Juan Santamaría Airport, before shockingly breaking in half.

The aircraft, which has been identified as a Boeing 757, had initially departed the same airport earlier but decided to return after a hydraulics system failure was detected.

Héctor Chaves, director the Costa Rica Fire Department, said that both the pilot and co-pilot were safely extracted from the aircraft before emergency teams applied foam to prevent a spill from the wreckage.

While both pilots were unharmed, a spokesperson from DHL said one of them is currently undergoing a medical checkup as a precaution.
