"For only in unity can have continuity," Cebu governor Gwen Garcia said in her message at the groundbreaking ceremony of Global City Mandaue.
The governor called the project "game-changer" development that would create an outpouring opportunities and development for the city and the province.
"This will open up more opportunities for business in Mandaue," she said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jona Cortes said the project is expected to attract more investments and create thousands of jobs among locals.
The 101-hectare reclamation project will be built along the Mactan Channel, near the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, around 2.7 kms. from the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA).
This will be one of Mandaue City's central business district, which composed of three world-class districts namely Civic, Commercial, Waterfront Luxury.
Civic District will house the new Mandaue City Hall, Civic Center and a ferry terminal to bring economic activity in the city. A world-class malls, outdoor, lifestyle, shopping and retail centers, and hotels will soon to rise.
