Colegio de San Lorenzo (CdSL), a family-owned private school in Quezon City defends sudden closure, and expressed hope that it would be the last private school to be closed due to the financial issues brought by the pandemic.
"We did not think it would happen," it says in a statement.
Colegio de San Lorenzo, which announced its sudden closure at the beginning of the semester said, it was holding out until the last minute in an attempt to keep the school open.
"We were hopeful that we could stop the closure from happening. Despite the COVID-19 lockdown we lowered student fees and subsidized school operations using our family's personal fund."
In an announcement, the school's board of trustees said all checks have already been prepared for claim.
Their office in Quezon City will remain open until Sept. 20.
