TAIWAN DECLARES AIRSPACE CLOSURE

Taiwan has coordinated with neighboring countries to find alternate routes for flights that may pass through their airspace.

It follows after Taiwan declares closure around their airspace for their military drills. According to Taiwan's central news, they have contacted Japan and the Philippines about avoiding their airspace.

PAL issued the flight status after the Taiwan aviation authorities released a Notice to Airmen (Notam), which informed airline companies of the airspace closure from 12nn August 4 to 12nn August 7.

“Our flight to and from Taipei on Aug. 5 Friday will proceed as scheduled. We will carry out flight rerouting to avoid restricted airspace,” PAL spokesperson Cielo Vilalluna said.

According to the central news agency, Singapore has avoided passing through the said airspace. Vietnam Airlines has also rerouted its 36 flights that will enter and pass through Taiwan.
