SAF FILES A CASE AGAINST MAMASAPANO STARS FOR ILLEGAL USE OF UNIFORM AND INSIGNIA

Special Action Force (SAF) filed a case against Paolo Gumabao, Rico Barrera, Aljur Abrenica, and others involved in the movie Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told.

The movie Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told, reveals the story of 44 members of the elite Special Action Force (SAF) who were killed in a police operation in Mamasapano, Maguindanao on January 25, 2015.

In a mediacon last September 5, the producer of the said movie, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio disclosed about the case sued to them.

“Ngayon pa lang, may humaharang. Alam niyo, nakakalungkot. Eto, nakakatawa para sabihin ko sa inyo, ha,” he said.

“Noong una, very cooperative yung SAF. Si Gen. [Amando Clifton] Empiso yung hepe. Nung nagpalit, alam niyo ang ginawa? Dinemanda pa kami ng SAF mismo, ha?", Atty. Topacio added.

Atty. Topacio is the producer of the Mamasapano movie about what happened to the SAF's Oplan Exodus on January 25, 2015 in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

Illegal use of uniform and insignia"

“Ipinakita namin sa kanila dun sa piskalya. Eto, may permiso kami kay Gen. Empiso.

The producer was also asked what was the reaction of the stars regarding this issue.

What is the reaction of Paolo, Rico, and other parts of the Mamasapano movie that was sued by SAF?

“Siyempre, hindi sila natutuwa. Anyway, I’m protecting them, I gave them lawyers,” expressed Atty. Topacio.

The Ombudsman disregarded the case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide filed against former President Noynoy Aquino, as well as former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Alan Purisima and former PNP-Special Action Force (SAF) head Getulio Napeñas. The Supreme Court affirmed it, in a vote of 15-0, in September 2019.
