While the Sim Card Registration Act is set to impose starting December 27, 2022 by requiring all users to register their SIM card, scammers are also ramping up their illegal activities online.
Social media user identified as Justin Dey Camino Carpio shared a screenshot of a supposed email from GCash which temporarily restrict him from any transaction on the eWallet platform.
Just like anyone of us, reading this kind of message is very alarming that caused Carpio to panic since the culprit exactly knows his email address.
"Medio magpapanic mode ka talaga(nawala antok ko legit!). Kasi, they know your email and mukhang legit yung email," he said.
"In accordance to SIM Registration Act. We temporarily restrict any transactions/actions with your GCAsh Wallet," the message read.
"To reinstate the said feature, Kindly take part on our sim card pre-registration. Additional instruction should be given upon proceeding with the process," it added.
Then the message will give you a link to click and it will redirect you to another site to reveal your personal information.
Carpio was relieved after he confirmed from Globe that there's no such kind of process they are implementing.
"Buti nalang nag check muna ko sa globe. Wala daw silang ganyan process na pinagagawa," said Carpio.
