Jam Magno debunks arrest with a smiling mug shot

Social media personality and supporter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, Jessica Ann "Jam" Magno, voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Butuan City on December 12, 2023.

Captain Charles Evan Gatchalian, chief of Butuan City Police Station 4, confirmed Magno's surrender, stating that she arrived at the station with a relative and her lawyer. He clarified that Magno was not arrested but chose to surrender willingly.

Details of the allegations against Magno remain undisclosed by the police, but an arrest warrant for psychological violence was issued by Presiding Judge Ali Joseph Ryan Chiong Lloren of Misamis Oriental Regional Trial Court, Branch 37.

Magno posted bail of P72,000 at around 3:30 PM on the same day, authorized by a Butuan City judge.

Magno clarified on Facebook that she surrendered voluntarily and not under arrest, claiming her innocence.

In a Facebook post, she stated, "Have you ever seen a mugshot that's much prettier than mine? (...) Funny that people said I was arrested. Correction. I surrendered and posted my 72,000 peso bail and did NOT ask for a discount, and I was escorted by an entire TEAM of Butuan's BEST."

This incident highlights the importance of due process and legal representation. While the specific details of the case remain under investigation, it's crucial to remember that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
