Albert Einstein College of Medicine Goes Tuition-Free Thanks to $1 Billion Donation

Albert Einstein College of Medicine Offers Free Tuition Thanks to Historic Donation.

Great news for aspiring doctors! Beginning in August 2024, all future students at Albert Einstein College of Medicine will receive a full tuition scholarship, thanks to a historic $1 billion donation from Dr. Ruth Gottesman, a former professor at the school. This generous gift marks the largest single donation ever made to a medical school in the United States.

Not only will future students benefit, but current fourth-year students will also receive a full refund for their Spring 2024 tuition. This transformative gift aims to alleviate the financial burden of medical school, allowing future generations of doctors to pursue their passions without the weight of student debt.

Dr. Gottesman, who has dedicated over 55 years to the College of Medicine, hopes this donation will attract a more diverse and talented pool of students to the field of medicine. "We want to ensure that access to medical education isn't limited by financial barriers," she stated.

This gift aligns with Dr. Gottesman's long history of supporting educational initiatives. She established the first-ever adult literacy program at the College and has championed various programs for children with learning disabilities.

The legacy of this historic donation extends beyond financial support. It signifies a commitment to fostering a more inclusive and accessible medical field, where future doctors can focus on their calling and create positive change in their communities.
