Bacolaodiat Festival 2024 Kicks Off with a Splash of Color and Culture

A vibrant kick-off event marked the beginning of the highly anticipated Bacolaodiat Festival 2024 on Sunday, February 4th. Held at SM City Bacolod North Atrium, the event set the stage for the main festivities taking place from February 9th to 11th along the Lacson Tourism Strip and North Capitol Road, ushering in the Year of the Wood Dragon.

 

The launch ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including members of Bacolaodiat Inc., led by festival chair John Stephen Sy and founder Alfredo Barcelona, alongside city government officials and representatives from the Bacolod City Tourism Office and SM City Bacolod.

 


In his welcome address, Sy emphasized the inclusive nature of the festival, saying, "The Bacolaodiat Festival is a celebration that brings people together. This is not just a festival for the Filipino-Chinese community, but for all of us Bacolodnons and Negrenses."

 

A symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official start of the festivities at SM City Bacolod, captivating the audience with intricate Chinese New Year-themed decorations and a mesmerizing lion dance performance by the Bacolod Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade. 

 

The vibrant costumes and energetic movements symbolized good luck and prosperity for the coming year, setting the tone for a joyous celebration.

 

As the Year of the Wood Dragon unfolds, Bacolaodiat 2024 promises to be a vibrant tapestry of cultural experiences, welcoming both residents and visitors to immerse themselves in the rich traditions and festivities.
