A pregnant woman who jumped into a swollen river to save her husband has tragically lost her life in s flash flood that swept away a pickup truck in Carmen town, Cebu.
Rhesamie Ypil Costan, 26, and her husband, Elmer, 25, were among 17 people aboard the vehicle when it was caught in the rushing waters on Monday, July 8. The couple had only been married for two days.
According to Rhesamie's father, Amadeo Ypil Jr., the group was returning from a mountain resort when the incident occurred. Witnesses said Rhesamie jumped into the river after seeing her husband swept away.
The bodies of Rhesamie and a 12-year-old boy were recovered the following day, while Elmer and the three remain missing. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
The tragedy has sent shock waves through the community, with friends and family mourning the loss of the young couple and their unborn child.
