Manila, Philippines – The University of Santo Tomas (UST) duo of Sofiah Pagara and Khylem Progella kicked off UAAP Season 87 with a strong 2-0 start in the collegiate beach volleyball tournament at the Sands SM By The Bay.
Pagara, last season's top rookie, and Progella overpowered Far Eastern University and Ateneo de Manila University in their opening matches. Their impressive performance followed their recent stint at the Asian Senior Beach Volleyball Championship in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
National University's Honey Grace Cordero and Kat Epa also had a successful opening day, defeating University of the Philippines and Adamson University.
Other notable results include:
- University of the East's Van Bangayan and Krisha Revilla defeated Ateneo's Lomocso and Matibag.
- Adamson University's Shai Nitura and Fei Sagaysay defeated La Salle's Sophia Sindayen and Ela Raagas.
As the tournament progresses, these talented teams are expected to continue to impress and provide exciting matches for beach volleyball fans.
