Affected OFWs at NAIA runway mishap to receive P5000 cash aid

More flight delays and cancellations have grounded at Naia after a Xiamen Air passenger plane skidded off the runway on August 17. The government is doing its best to help stranded OFWs and they will be giving a financial cash assistance worth P5000 starting Wednesday afternoon(August 22) and until Friday afternoon (August 24).

"We are releasing a reasonable amount from our Assistance to Nationals Fund as we understand that a number of our kababayan remain stranded and do not have funds to meet their daily needs," Department of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter Cayetano said in a statement.

Hundreds of passengers were left stranded over the weekend after a Xiamen Airlines Boeing 737 overshot NAIA's runway.

How to claim the P5000 assistance?

Those claiming the financial assistance should present their airline ticket showing original date of departure; the reissued ticket showing new date of departure, employment contract and overseas employment certificate.

Aside from NAIA, affected OFWs may claim the financial assistance from the Office of Migrant Workers Affairs on the 3rd floor of the DFA building in Roxas Boulevard.
