Bacolod is known to its real mouthwatering taste of grilled chicken in the country. The city government is giving away 3,000 grilled chicken which marked the 2nd Bacolod chicken inasal festival on Saturday, May 25.
Around 3000 senior citizens of Bacolod were chosen beneficiaries and were served for free with rice along San Sebastian street. Last year, it was the street children who was fed with free chicken 'inasal'. The city government bought 100 'inasal' from each 30 establishments and grilled continuously.
The festival was highlighted by a boodle fight on Araneta st. in front of the old city hall.
This year’s Chicken Inasal Festival included special events like Sawsawan Contest, with 10 paticipants; Fantasy Chicken Costume Contest, with 22 participants; and Hiphop Dance Showdown, with 10 competing groups.
A Zumba Street Party, with seven groups. also added fun to the festival.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, in previous events, said that Bacolod’s chicken inasal has become well-known worldwide, and that the “chicken inasal” has become synonymous to Bacolod City.
Leonardia said the Chicken Inasal Festival is now getting to be another tourism draw of the city.

Rojas added they will be working on further improving the festival, like lengthening the grilling, and adding more beneficiaries of free chicken inasal next year.
