Pacquiao, Thurman fight leaves 2 boxing fan dead, 1 hospitalized

Atleast two boxing fan in separate incident died during and after the fight of Manny  Pacquiao against Keith Thurman on Sunday, July 21. A 41-year-old in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City is among the fatality, and one in Barangay Sawang Caleto, a trisikad driver landed in the hospital, according to cebudailynews report. 


Lonrenz Dizon of Brgy. Kalunasan was declared dead on arrival by doctors at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) at past 2 pm. Dizon had just arrived from the Kalunasan barangay hall at 1:30 pm where he watched the fight. Meanwhile, 60-year-old Margarito Casquejo was watching the fight at the Sawang Calero barangay hall when his friends noticed him having difficulty in breathing.

While a 68-year-old fan in Marikina City died from suspected heart attack, according to Manila Bulliten report.  Initial investigation said, Salvador Abay of Barangay Malanday, Marikini City was watching the first round of the match when the Pacquiao knocked down Thurman. Abay suddenly collapsed inside the Manotoc Covered Court in Barangay Sto. Niño.

An emergency rescue team responded and brought him to Amang Rodriguez Medical Center, but pronounced dead on-arrival.
