Kabankalan Airport To Complete 1.2km Runway After Securing P120M Budget

Kabankalan City is one of fastest growing tourist destination in the South of Negros, and now the airport's runway is slowly shaping phase-by-phase after securing P120M budget. Mayor Zayco, who led the 22nd charter anniversary of Kabankalan City announced that Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has initially secured a P90 million fund for the construction of runway. 


The provincial government who allocated the P30 million for the initial construction of 217 meters runway has already been concreted. An additional 320 meters extension of the runway will start soon, after the city government has allocated the P40 million budget.

Mayor Zayco said that the P120 million budget to operate the airport is enough only to complete the 1.2 km. runway, excluding the airport terminal. The CAAP has already awarded a P30 million contract for the Kabankalan airport runway, that is part of the P60 million it secured from the Department of Science and Technology.

Meanwhile, Sixth District Congressman-elect Genaro Alvarez assured to provide the remaining budget for the construction of the airport terminal. 

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian who was the guest speaker of the 22nd Kabankalan City charter anniversary also vowed to extend assistance to any development projects in Negros.
