His mother is a housewife and has no work to earn a living while his father only earns P4,000 as a road maintenance worker for the Department of Public Works and Highways.
In a post that went viral on social media, teacher Arcilyn Balbin Azarcon shared a photos of her student's determination to learn. She recalled that after she instructed her students to copy the lesson she wrote on board, she was surprised to see Erlande writing on a banana leaf.
"Ang sabi ko, hala bakit ano banana leaf ang sinusulatan mo and then when I look out may banana na nakaputol doon and then sabi ko pinutol mo ba yung dalawang banana? Hindi po ma'am kumuha lang ako ng dahon doon," Azarcon recalled.
The story has touched many hearts online and the good news is, teacher Arcilyn said that support and donations for the child and his family are pouring after the post went viral.
