President Duterte extends GCQ in Metro Manila until June 30

President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) extending the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila until June 30.

The decision of the president comes shortly after the GCQ period was supposed to expire for the National Capital Region with few more areas in country on June 15.

Aside from Metro Manila, here are some of the areas under GCQ until June 30:


Luzon
  • Cagayan
  • Isabela
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Quirino
  • Santiago City in Region II
  • Aurora
  • Bataan
  • Bulacan
  • Tarlac
  • Olongapo City in Region III
  • Cavite
  • Laguna
  • Batangas
  • Rizal
  • Quezon
  • Occidental Mindoro

Visayas
  • Bohol
  • Cebu
  • Negros Oriental
  • Siquijor
  • Mandaue City
  • Lapu-Lapu City

Mindanao
  • Davao City
  • Zamboanga City
The rest of the country remains under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ). While experts from the University of the Philippine have projected the number of cases may reach to 40,000 by June 30, the country has reported 26,420 COVID-19 cases as of Monday, with 6,252 recoveries and 1,089 deaths.
