Vico Sotto says Pasig City to provide free laptops, tablets for public schools

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto took to his Facebook account and shared the good news during his 31st birthday, saying that they raised around P1.2 billion to provide free laptops, tablets , and other learning devices for its public schools as they prepared for virtual learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

He revealed that about 2,500 students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig will receive tablets to aid them in online learning.

"Syempre walang papalit sa face-to-face classes pero alam po natin na sa ngayon, medyo delikado pa at ayaw nating maging breeding ground ng virus ang ating mga paaralan, so magiging distance learning po talaga," he said in a live briefing.

He also urged students to enroll and not to worry about the fees.

Previously, Education Secretary Leonor Briones announced that classes will open on August 24.
