Coronavirus found on frozen seafood packaging in China

 Chinese authorities have found the new coronavirus on the packaging of imported frozen seafood in Yantai, a port located in the eastern Shandong province.


The confirmation comes after authorities step up its monitoring on frozen food from a foreign vessel that entered the country. Yantai authorities in a statement said, seafood was from an imported shipment that landed via Dalian port.


According to reports, three companies from the city have imported the shrimps from Ecuador. Good thing, no one who had close contact with the batch of contaminated products tested positive but they have been placed under quarantine. 


The sea foods that the three Yantai companies bought had been processed for export, while the rest was kept in cold storage and has not entered the market.



However, staff member did not disclosed any information when asked if they have sent off other sea foods for export. Following to the incident, China suspended imports from three Ecuadorean shrimp suppliers. 


The latest outbreak of coronavirus in Dalian city started in late July, with the case working at a seafood processing. Dalian has reported 92 total COVID-19 cases.
