Karen Davila to Plantation Bay shareholder: "Shame on you"

Karen Davila has blasted Cebu resort shareholder for responding negatively to a review by a mother of a child with autism - saying 'shame on you'.

The veteran broadcaster took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of the parent's review for the resort.

"Shame on you Manny Gonzales of Plantation Bay for trying to school a parent of a child with autism on what the symptoms are. You are a disgrace to the tourism industry. Your words & heartlessness do not belong in the world today that seeks to include all persons with needs," Karen said.

Davila, who has a son with autism said in her previous interview that her son's condition has 'taught her not just how to love unconditionally but to be very patient with children with autism'.

Mai, a mother of six-year-old child with autism shared her negative experienced at the TripAdvisor website during their stay in Plantation Bay, which she described "Not  an ideal place for a child with special needs."

"It could've been the perfect getaway for Fin, my child with special needs. When something excites him or when he is happy, he makes it known by squealing with delight. Fin is happy! That is what I always tell him every time he does that," Mai said.

"I though that was okay until we were told afar (A lifeguard). As a mother, your initial action would be directed to your child. So I told him not to squeal because it wasn't allowed," she continued.

After Mai's shared experienced went viral online with a quite number of engagement, Manny Gonzales, the resort's resident stakeholder responded negatively to Mai's review on Trip Advisor comment section.

In a now edited post, Gonzalez who used the account of the resort's general manager, Efren Belarmino, accused Mai of "most likely deliberately lying" since "uncontrolled shouting is not a symptom of autism."

His remarks has since attracting criticisms online with many netizens came to Mai's defense.

Meanwhile, the resort have already issued an apology to the mother for "poor handling of a guest complaint."
