Elon Musk to award a whopping $100M prize for best carbon tech

Elon Musk, the richest man on earth is giving away a whopping $100M prize to anyone who can create the best carbon capture technology.

"Am donating $100M towards a prize for bet carbon capture technology," Elon Musk tweeted. The Tesla chief noted that details of the prize would be revealed in the week.

According to reports, the donation could be part of a prize for Xprize Foundation, a non-profit organization that awards prizes to industry-changing technology for a more sustainable world.

Musk was declared as the richest man on earth as the year 2021 start. He overtook Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. He is the head of rocket company SpaceX and Neuralink, a startup that create ultra-high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect the human brain to computers.

For now, humanity is still using 100 million years old carbon capture technology by planting a tree. Arbor Day Foundation said that a mature tree could absorb carbon dioxide   more than 48 pounds from the atmosphere and release oxygen in exchange. "In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the amount of CO2 produced by a car driven 26,000 miles," they said.
