Community pantry needs LGU permit to ensure health protocols compliance - DILG

 The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Martin Diño said in an interview with ANC, "I think now they need a permit from the local, mayor, or the barangay. Una, paisa-isa lang yan. Ngayon kaso dinumog na ng tao, ibig sabihin wala nang control pati yung protocol ngayon ay na-violate na."






Diño was referring to the community pantries that sprouting in the country due to the pandemic that drives individual to create their own ways to help other people in hunger.





The undersecretary has commended the efforts of organizers of community pantries but urged barangays and local governments to guide them to observe health protocols. 







The Maginhawa Community Pantry which was establish by Ana Patricia Non is just a small bamboo cart when it started to gain social media attention, but now the powerful effort has inspired others to do so even in the other parts of the country during this time of pandemic.




The idea is simple, people could get everything enough for their needs and donate whatever food they could give to sustain the cycle.
