A flaming rock believed to be a meteorite landed at the Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) campus on Friday. According to the school teacher Mario Amaca, a laud explosion was heard by the school's security guard and his wife before they discovered a flaming rock.
The greenish black colored rock which reportedly fell from the sky hit few meters away from the guards barracks.
A security guard said, at first he thought it was a power transformer explosion. However, upon checking the blasting site they discovered a flaming Styrofoam box nearby, and found a rock after dousing it with water.
Amaca said he is seeking help from local geologists and officials from the Department of Science and Technology to examine the shiny block black stone that is about three inches in diameter.
