CHINESE INFLUENCER WHO ALLEGEDLY SPENT 150,000 YUAN (P1.2M) A DAY RECEIVES BACKLASH

A Chinese influencer who reportedly spends 150,000 yuan, or P1.2M a single day has been criticized for flexing her lavish lifestyle online.

Wang Xuancheng, or Wang Chengcheng, who have 3-million followers on video app Douyin  has came under fire and was banned shortly  after she shared a video in which she posed as a wealthy socialite with a police helicopter, South China Morning Post reported.

The 31-year-old has long been posting her extravagant lifestyle online, showing off her 400-square-meter mansion and a Rolls-Royce.

She also claimed that her father is a police officer and posted a photograph with him.

Social media folks were outraged prompting many to accuse her of using state funds for her personal needs.

However, Chenyang police in Liaoning said that the helicopter appeared in the video was a civilian chopper owned by a general aviation company, Chinese outlet Shine reported.

Added that Ms Wang's father was a retired low-ranking official.

She started a business in 2017 and married a businessman in 2020.

Wang has since denied the allegations against her, claiming that she is an entrepreneur.

"I have my own cars, property and business. I haven't asked for a penny from my family since I was 22," she said  via Douyin before her account was suspended.

Chinese government last year has tightened control and strictly discouraging "vulgar internet celebrities" from showing off their lavish lifestyle to preserve their traditional Chinese culture, and also as apart of its efforts towards president Xi Jinping's "national rejuvenation."
