TROPICAL DEPRESSION QUEENIE INTENSIFIES STRENGTH AS IT ENTERS PAR

PAGASA said tropical storm Queenie that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Monday morning has maintained its strength but no direct threat at this time, according to the weather advisory issued at 11 A.M.

Based on the available data from PAGASA, Queenie is estimated 815 km east of Northeastern Mindanao with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

The agency said that the storm is unlikely to affect the country until Tuesday but it will bring light to heavy rains over Caraga, Eastern Visayas  and Bicol region starting Wednesday.

It may also place the eastern portion of Caraga and some areas in Eastern Visayas under wind signal No. 1.

However, Pagasa said that Queenie might weaken into a tropical depression by Tuesday.

Meanwhile, typhoon Paeng with international name 'Nalgae' has re-intensified  into a severe tropical storm while hovering the West Philippine Sea.
