GOLD JEWELRY ESTIMATED WORTH P80-MILLION FOUND INSIDE AN AIRCRAFT LAVATORY

 An assorted pieces of gold jewelry weighing 24.4 kilos with estimated value of P80-million was discovered inside the aircraft's lavatory.



Personnel from the Bureau of Customs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Thursday, Nov. 17, in the latest attempt to smuggle jewelries at the countries main airport.  




The investigation is on going to identify "the person responsible for this smuggling attempt," said Port of NAIA Collector  Carmelita M. Talusan.



The precious pieces of jewelries were discovered at the Philippine Airlines flight PR301 form Hong Kong after it arrived at 2:28 P.M. on Thursday. 



PAL meanwhile, continues to cooperate with the authorities as it immediately reported the incident to the PNP aviation Security Group based at the NAIA Terminal 2.


"Upon discovery, the PNP endorsed the items to the Bureau of Customs. PAL continues to cooperate with the PNP and the BoC to ensure an orderly and thorough probe," said PAL spokesman Cielo Villaluna.
