The University of San Carlos (USC) Cebu emerged victorious in the recently concluded EU Whiz 2024 Championship. The competition, organized by the European Union (EU) Delegation to the Philippines, challenged the country's brightest young minds to showcase their knowledge of the EU's history, institutions, and its six-decade partnership with the Philippines.
Ateneo de Manila University and Ateneo de Davao University secured the first and second runner-up positions, respectively.
Held on October 24th at SM Aura, the competition, organized by the European Union (EU) Delegation to the Philippines, tested the knowledge and skills of the country's brightest young minds on EU history, institutions, and the 60-year EU-Philippines partnership.
The
USC team, composed of John Michael Paman, Cearlovey Granali, and Eriko
Angelo De Castro, outperformed other finalists in a series of rigorous
rounds. Their exceptional performance earned them the top prize.
European Union Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Massimo Santoro, congratulated the winning team and commended all participants for their outstanding performance. SM Aura Mall Manager Mark Kua was also present to celebrate the success of the event.
Ambassador Santoro emphasized the importance of youth engagement in international relations. He encouraged the participants to continue exploring international affairs and to uphold the shared values between the EU and the Philippines.
The EU Whiz 2024 competition was held both online and at SM Aura as part of the 60th anniversary celebration of EU-Philippines diplomatic relations. Thirty-two universities from across the Philippines participated in the event.
