The 73rd Miss Universe pageant kicked off its preliminary competition on November 15th (Philippine time) in Mexico City, making history with a record-breaking 126 contestants vying for the coveted crown.
This year, the competition has been elevated, with four continental queens and a fan-vote winner directly advancing to the semifinals. Additionally, the number of semifinalists has increased from 20 to 30, promising a thrilling and competitive pageant night.
Philippine Beauty Shines Bright
Our very own Chelsea Manalo, the stunning Miss Philippines, graced the stage in a series of breathtaking looks. Her elegant blue evening gown, designed by Manny Halasan, was a vision of grace and sophistication. The designer described the gown as "dancing with the waves of the sea."
For the swimsuit competition, Chelsea exuded confidence as she strutted the stage in a blue two-piece bikini, complementing her natural beauty. Her fans were captivated by her performance.
Celebrating Advocacy and National Pride
The Miss Universe pageant also recognized outstanding advocacy work. Bolivia, Guatemala, and Cambodia were honored as Gold Winners of the Voice for Change award, receiving a gold brooch and a cash prize.
In a testament to the Philippines' warm hospitality, the country was awarded the Best National Host Tour Country. Pageant manager Jonas Gaffud accepted the award on behalf of Miss Universe Philippines.
