From a Beauty Queen to a 2nd Lt. Philippine Army Reservist

While the most common stereotype beauty queen winners end up in showbiz, 2nd Lt. Zahra Bianca Saldua, a former beauty pageant winner, had other plans when it came to her career. Saldua was crowned Miss Earth Philippines Air in 2018 and also bag the second princess award in Miss World 2013.

"I have become one of the newest members of the Army Reserve Component. Since I was college being part of ROTC, I always wanted to serve our country. I always wanted to help the people and I wanted to be a part of the future of the Philippine Army being its representative to the public," Saldua said on Facebook.

That passion was ignited three years ago when she began to serve as a host to many events for the Philippine Army. She eventually find love to serve the country, and decided to join the Army Reserve of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

"We can use our expertise in our respective fields to voluntarily give to the Philippine Army. Sharing our talents and knowledge to help our country and the men and women who serve and protect our country.

"I am happy that the Philippine Army is making an effort to inspire the youth to be a part of the team of modern day heroes who serve and protect our country and its people. I am willing to be "the face" and use my story as a beauty queen turned reservist because I love my country and I want more people to do the same- to VOLUNTARILY sign up and share their skills and talents," Sadua said.
