6.8-magnitude earthquake rocks Mindanao, dozens injured

Two weeks after a huge tremor in Mindanao, today, October 29, Tuesday, a huge 6.8-magnitude earthquake rocks the same region. The quake hit at about 50km deep near the town of Kisante, less than 100km from Davao City.
No tsunami warning has been issued, but terrified locals fled into the streets and several others are injured from fallen debris.  The US Geological Survey said, smaller shakes can be felt caused by anxiety on the ground. Several establishment were close today and classes are suspended to allow authorities to inspect buildings for possible damage.


Manolo Fortich Mayor Clive D. Quiño has ordered the suspension classes in all levels in both private and public schools. Centrio Ayala Mall in Cagayan De Oro is also closed today and will resume operations tomorrow, October 30, 2019.

Two elderly patients wait outside the M'lang General Hospital in Cotabato after they were evacuated out of the building.


Photos of devastated areas has been circulating widely on social media on Tuesday, October 29. Patients Of Mlang District hospital were rushed to safe place outside the hospital.

More than a dozen people were injured in M'lang town in Cotabato and Cagayan De Oro province.
