The Escolta Block Party Is Back Into Manila's Historic Streets

The Escolta Block Party is here again and it's going big and the organizers decided to make it into a month-long celebration. Escolta Block Party is all about reviving the history of the legendary "Queen of Streets" that is Escolta in Binondo, Manila. It was dubbed by the New York Times as the Fifth Avenue of the Philippines before the world war and started to deteriorate after the war.

To bring back the life to this place, Escolta is being resurrected with street parties, tours of neo-classical buildings, appreciation of the art and feasting on local foods. For this year event, the Escolta Block Festival will cover the two blocks of Escolta and surrounding streets from November 9-30, 2019. 

Expect more bazaars to open on Saturday, November 9 at 11 am, and also catch for some local artists performance called Escolta Sessions, which features UDD and Giniling Festival, at 6pm. 
Other activities includes The Escolta Crawl, A Night in the Gayborhood, The Escolta Public Art Program Tour, Baybayin Workshop, Typography exhibit, Hydroponics workshop, Pop-up libraries, book stops and children's storytelling, a vintage car displays in front of First United Buildings and many more.
