Senator Cynthia Villar told hundreds of farmers during the 1st Agribusiness Tourism event in Iriga City Saturday (February 8) that Novel Coronavirus scare will help boost local tourism.
“Since there’s a ban on any flight coming in from China, Hong Kong, and Macau, so they can’t cruise for fear of getting infected of nCoV so we will rely on farm tourism and it is local tourism,” Villar said.
"this is a great chance for Filipinos to explore the beautiful local sceneries, particularly the farms, as promoted by the Department of Tourism," She added.
Villar, the chairman of the Senate committee on agriculture and food, urged the farmers to get into agribusiness to generate more profit.
However, many netizens react and had a lot of words to say with regards to the statement of the senator.

It is indeed that technology is a best thing to improve and boost production as accord by Sen. Cynthia Villar, but thinking that the spread of nCov-virus is an advantage to foster local tourism is very inhumane since the public health is at stake! https://t.co/lEvKvfDnIT— Carlo James (@reyescarlojames) February 8, 2020
