Singer Claire dela Fuente was sentenced up to 7-years imprisonment after being found guilty of seven counts for tax evasion.

According to the Court of Tax Appeals, Dela Fuente has failed for seven years to file the income tax returns of her bus firm. Dela Fuente, operator of the Philippine Corinthian Liner Corp., was ordered to pay a fine of P150,000.
"For each consolidated criminal case, she is sentenced to suffer the straight penalty of imprisonment of one year and ordered to pay a fine of PHP50,000 with subsidiary imprisonment, in case (the) accused has no property with which to meet such fine," the court said.
Likewise, PCLC was ordered to pay PHP100,000 for each of the consolidated criminal case.
The criminal case was filed 10 years ago by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) found the non-filing of income tax returns from 1998 to 2004.
