Filipina Transgender Woman Mela Franco Habijan wins Miss Trans Global 2020

 Miss Trans Global is an annual international pageant for transgender women from all around the world, by trans women for trans women.


Miss Trans Global Pageant is an International Virtual Pageant for trans women  from all backgrounds, stated to raise awareness on the plight of transgender and LGBTQ issues. 




This is an opportunity to raise awareness for transgender women suffering worldwide who are struggling to survive at these difficult times of COVID-19 due to family rejections, homelessness, lacks of job and earning opportunity. 


The pageant started last July 1, 2020, where the girls were put through various tasks and given awards. The organization launched the For Trans  Women by Trans Women Campaign to raise funds from the general public to vulnerable transgender women finding life difficult to survive in this pandemic. 



The long wait is over as one of the aspiring Trans Women got the title as the first ever Miss Trans Global 2020. 


Mela Franco Habijan wins the pageant as Miss Trans Global 2020.


Mela happily announced the victory on her Facebook page.

"NOT YOUR TYPICAL CROWNING MOMENT, BUT I’M HAPPY TO BE HOLDING THE HANDS OF THE BEST PEOPLE IN MY LIFE" she wrote.

Prior to the pageant, Mela was a writer in ABS-CBN, an actress, performer, entrepreneur, and LGBTQ advocate.


Because of her advocacy on LGBTQ, she came out disappointed with what happened to Jennifer Laude, a trans women killed by US Marine Lance Cpl. Joseph Scott Pemberton’s impending release after being granted absolute pardon by President Rodrigo Duterte. 


She wrote a poem dedicated to Jennifer Laude and transgender community in the Philippines.
