National ID system pre-registration to start Oct. 12

The Philippine National Identification System (PhilSys) ID pre-registration will begin on October 12. This is a proposed single and unified identification system for Filipinos which the government initially planned to register 5 million household heads in 32 provinces by the end of the year.

In this national ID system or the Philsys, the person should declare his or her name according to his or her birth certificate, photograph, gender, blood type, and signature.

The ID will come with its unique serial number, which will be called the Philsys Number (PSN). The reference number will be issued by the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA).

Other government-issued identification numbers such as the following will also be associated with the person’s designated CRN such as SSS, Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, Passport number, Voter’s registration, Tax Identification Number (TIN), Driver’s license number.

President Rodrigo Duterte in August 2018 signed the PhilSys Act or Republic Act No. 11055 seeks to streamline transactions, lower the cost of government-related ID application, and ease and convenience for all transactions.
