Donnie Nietes, the four-division title holder has dominated the ring in a victorious comeback against Pablo Carrillo. Nietes snatched the WBO International super flyweight title on Sunday at Caesars Palace Dubai.
This was the first fight of Nietes in more than two years after he defeated Kazuto Ioka for the vacant WBO super flyweight title in December 31, 2018, but vacated the belt months later. The 38-year-old showed no sign of aging as he dominated 99-91, 98-92 and 96-95 in unanimous decision.
Nietes has improved his record to 43 wins, 1 defeat, and 5 draws while 32-year-old Carrillo dropped to 25-8-1.
With his latest win, Nietes positioned as veteran wild card in the junior bantamweight division that includes Juan Francisco Estrada, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Chocolatito Gonzalez, Kazuto Ioka, and Jerwin Ancajas.
