A 3-year-old boy was declared to have brain dead after drowning in a swimming pool. The boy who drowned was identified as Ezra Jacob Rosario, born in the United States.

This November, their family went home to Ilocos Norte for their reunion and to celebrate the third birthday celebration of Ezra and his twin brother, Elijah. The said-to-be happy reunion ended in sadness when an incident happen.

On November 6, Jennae Carpio, Ezra's mother said they were swimming at night when people went up from the pool to change, she followed Ezra's twin brother when the boy disappeared from their sight.

They'd been looking for the boy when they saw it someone was screaming and his husband dive into the pool to pull Ezra out of the water.

Ezra's family doctor did even revive him and he responded before being rushed to the nearest hospital in town but it lacked pieces of equipment and the family decided to airlift him to Manila.

They didn't reach the cut-off at the airport so the child was taken the next morning, But Ezra's mom said, on Thursday the boy was declared brain dead.

It is difficult and painful for the family to give up because the 3-year-old child has nothing left to fight for, but the decision to give the child's memory to others.

The mother describes the child as very independent and helpful, especially to his twin brother.

Through the National Kidney and Transplant Institutes' Human Organ Preservation Effort (HOPE), a 24-year-old was transplanted with Ezra's donated kidney. Cornea transplant using the child's cornea was also successful for 3-year-old and 22-year-old patients.

To honor the child, Ezra was named as "Youngest Organ Donor in the Country".
