PURA LUKA VEGA APPEARS ON COURT FOR CRIMINAL CASE

Pura Luka Vega goes to court after she faces criminal suits filed by the Christian churches under the Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM).

The complaints was lodged after a video of a bearded Luka performing the 'The Lord's Prayer' or 'Ama Namin' went viral.

"Let me state and reiterate that Drag is Not a crime," she said. Added that "this experience has highlighted hypocracy and is an education on hate."

"The law should not be used to persecute minorities for our unique cultural practices," told Luka.

Her performance has caused outrage among church leaders and lawmakers called the performance "blasphemous".

Several local government units in the country declared the drag artist persona non grata.
