Cyclist demands "Life Saving Bike Laws" for road safety in the Philippines

Manila, Pilippines - "Around 196 have been killed. 7,464 have been disabled. Breadwinners and Childrens die like stray dogs. They are the backbone of this country. Yet no one remembers and seek to solve this," a strong message of the We Want Bike Lanes in RP Movement for the incoming administrations.

We Want Bike Lanes in RP Movement on its Facebook page described the tragic death happened to Mark "Pompo" Arroyo, a 32-year-old triathlon athlete and team captain of the Smart Tri-team. Arroyo, who tied the knot in March last year and was expecting his child in the next months was killed by a truck near Avida Subdivision and Dalig National High School Brgy. Dalig Antipolo, Rizal on Saturday, June 25.

The driver of the truck Ruel Azucena is currently in jail pending for inquest proceedings. Here's an open letter for Duterte and Robredo.

DEAR FUTURE PRESIDENT,

196 have been Killed. 7,464 have been Disabled. Breadwinners & Children die like stray dogs. They are the backbone of this country. Yet no one remembers & seeks to solve this.

Without your swift action, their blood & their deaths would have been all in vain & all to waste..As Filipinos Tax-payers, we demand LIFE-SAVING BIKE LAWS that protect the Marginalized & Vulnerable.

The Public Trust we will give you on May 09 2016 is your chance to Alleviate this Human Loss, Redeem this Sacrifice, and Vindicate this Carnage.

LET THEIR DEATHS BE THE LAST.
Public Safety lies at the heart of your sworn duty. Human Lives lies at the core of your mandate.

PLEASE DO NOT FAIL US.

Sincerely,
FAMILIES OF ROAD VICTIMS & SURVIVORS
