Quezon City approves 20% Discount in food restaurants for single Parents

Christmas will be more merrier for Single parents in Quezon City if the proposed ordinance which is now in the second reading of the Quezon City council will implemented.

Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte quoted as saying with Manila Bulliten, "the proposal would provide more benefits to indigents solo parents in the city."

"There is an increasing number of indigent solo parents in the city, particularly young single mothers, and that is why we continue to carry out our advocacy of assisting solo parents," Belmonte said.

If the city ordinance will get implemented, this would requires the city's restaurants and eating establishments to provide a 20-percent discount on the total bill of a solo parent with his or her children.


The 20% discount will be made available every first Saturday of the month, from 12 noon to 6 PM. and it is applicable for single or accumulated receipts not exceeding P2,000.

Then the establishment would claim the discounts as deductions on their annual business tax, which amounts to 1.75 percent of gross receipts in the preceding calendar year.

These would be a great helped for all single parents even it is made available every first Saturday of the month or once a month.

The Republic Act 8972 or the Solo Parents Welfare Act mandates government agencies to offer discounts and benefits to solo parents suffering form economic difficulties.
