Bailes de Luces' scores gold at 2019 Wonju Dynamic Carnival in South Korea

Bailes de Luces performers from La Castellana Negros Occidental won a Gold Award in special category during the 2019 Wonji Dynamic Dancing Carnival held in Wonju City in South Korea.

This year's festival will be the largest ever, with approximate 10,000 participants from 142 teams, including 34 teams from 12 overseas countries. The team was accompanied personally by their ever supportive Mayor, Mhai-mhai who received the award.

The biggest and the longest street parade festival in South Korea held from September 3 to 8,  2019 showcased the colorful street parade from more than a hundred participants from other countries.

The event also features wide variety of folk dances and magnificent military marching bands from international teams across the globe, as well as the local citizens' passionate performances.

Bailes de Luces or the "Dance of Light" is one of the highlights of calendar in La Castellana, Negros Occidental. It is meant to be a festival of hope and thanksgiving for a prosperous new year. Street dancers were fitted with LEDs and other light-emitting props to their costumes.
