A Day Before His Death, This Young Doctor Who's Among NAIA Plane Crash Victims Shared Heartbreaking Last Facebook Post

A Japan-bound air ambulance plane carrying medical supplies to combat the coronavirus pandemic burst into flames at NAIA runway shortly after take-off on Sunday, killing all eight people onboard including a young doctor who shared a last public Facebook post before his death.

Dr. Nicko posted a photo of him in front of the air ambulance, with hope that all of this (referring to COVID-19) will all pass, recounting everything he missed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

" I can't wait for all of this to be over. For all of the worrying to be done. For all the uncertainties to end. I can't wait to go back to how it was. To see my friends. To drink with my cousins. To kiss my niece. To hug my dad. And for my sister to be well. I can't wait to not thinkabout if I'm going to be sick or not.If I'm going to be another number on the census board. I can't wait for this terrible disease to end. But before that time comes, let me do this for you guys. Let's fight this, and in all honesty, I'm scared as hell."

These is the last words from Dr. Cenover Nicandro "Nicko" Bautista, 33, the brother of former Paramita lead vocalist Ria Bautista.

“I lost my brother on that flight. No words can describe how devastating it is to lose a family member in such a horrific way. How do you process something like this,” Ria said.

Ria described his brother as a hero, just like many other frontliners who have been sacrificing their lives to fight coronavirus disease.

Meanwhile, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) is mourning the passing of its another doctor alumni, just two weeks after the death of a young cardiologist.

“It is with extreme sadness that I inform you that PLM lost another one of its own while performing his sworn duty to save lives. Dr Nicko Bautista, 2014 graduate of the PLM College of Medicine perished in the medevac crash earlier tonight at NAIAA airport en route to Haneda, Japan to bring a patient there for treatment. Dr. Bautista is the 2nd PLM doctor that we lost in two weeks. Dr Israel Bactol died last week due to COVID 19 infection,” the Office of the PLM President announced on its official Facebook page.
