Man with cancer ends up walking from Marikina to Quezon City to get his chemo meds, due to lack of public transportation



From Marikina City, this leukemia patient ended up walking all the way to Quezon City to get his chemotheraphy medicine due to the lack of public transportation.

Prior to his journey on Tuesday, Hedel Cruz has made an advance message through his Facebook account asking for help going to the health agency where he will going take his chemo medicine.

"Papuntang Q.C Para Sa Aking Chemo Medicines. Makikisakay po! Salamat," the sign read, along with the caption: "Preparing for tomorrow. Tayo-tayo na lang talaga ang magtutulungan. Magtiwala tayo sa kabutihan ng iba sa panahon ng Epidemya.The things we do to live..."



According to Hedel, "some good samaritans offered him a ride, but none of them could bring him directly to the city," he told GMA News.

Mass public transport has been suspended after an enhanced community quarantine measures was being implemented in Metro Manila to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

"Umabot na ako sa Santolan.Maraming salamat sa mga nagpaabot nang kagustuhang tumulong. Pero na trapik at di rin nila ako mapuntahan dahil barado ang Marcos Highway.
Wala pa din nagpapasakay sa akin. Mukhang lakad hanggang QC talaga ito."
