New Zealand announces over three months without virus transmission

New Zealand's Health Ministry has reported no new COVID-19 cases has been reported for the last 100 days - the total 23 active coronavirus cases were all managed and isolated.

“Achieving 100 days without community transmission is a significant milestone. However, as we all know, we can't afford to be complacent," Dr Bloomfield said.

“We have seen overseas how quickly the virus can re-emerge and spread in places where it was previously under control, and we need to be prepared to quickly stamp out any future cases in New Zealand."

New Zealand with over five million population was praised for its effective handling of the coronavirus spread since March when it started to close their borders. They have a total number of 1219 cases with no deaths reported.
