Richard Poon reacts to viral community pantry: "Is maginhawa the true origin?"

Singer-songwriter Richard Poon is making the rounds online following his reactions over the community pantries that quickly spread like wildfire. Inspired by Maginhawa Community pantry in Quezon City, several people in other parts of the country are now doing the same to help people who are badly affected by the pandemic.

In his social media post he reposted a Facebook post which was posted by MJ Quiambao Reyes 13 months ago.

Poon begin his post with a questions:

"DID THE BAYANIHAN SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY PANTRY ONLY START RECENTLY?

"IS MAGINHAWA THE TRUE ORIGIN?"

He continue to explain that 'bayanihan' spirit of Filipinos started a year ago, since the pandemic started. But point out the six differences of the 'bayanihan spirit' a year ago and a community pantry today based on MJ Q. Reyes post.

Here are the six differences according to him based on MJ Q. Reyes post :

1. Walang mainstream MEDIA COVERAGE.

2. Wala silang IBANG AGENDA maliban sa pagtulong lamang sa kapwa.

3. Hindi sila NAMUMUDMOD ng mga PAMPLETA at naghihikayat ng pag alsa.

4. Walang recruitment at walang PINAPIPIRMANG PETISYON habang nakapila.

5. Walang fundraising in $$$(dollars) or in million pesossess.

6. Hindi sila affiliated sa mga subersibong grupo.”
