People of Bacolod were divided over the recently concluded Inasal Festival along Araneta st. in front of the old city hall. This year’s Chicken Inasal Festival included special events like Sawsawan Contest, with 10 participants; Fantasy Chicken Costume Contest, with 22 participants; and Hiphop Dance Showdown, with 10 competing groups.
Around 3000 senior citizens of Bacolod were chosen beneficiaries and were served for free with rices and grilled chicken.
However, the event doesn't satisfied everyone and now at the center of controversy. Over the weekend photos circulated online went viral showing government officials and employees enjoying their meal, while many people outside the barricades were simply watching.
Netizens were quick to respond in exchange, they even compared it to Ilog Talaba Festival where people are welcome to partake without limit.
Facebook user Kevin Larida however explained, why barricades around the area were placed. According to him, the purposed of the barricades are for the safety of the people, to avoid them from getting burn and control them from entering the area, were long lines of chicken being cooked continuously.
